Providence, R.I. - Senior Nicole Stock (Buffalo Grove, IL) was named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week on Monday for her outstanding play in leading the Bears to a pair of league wins over the weekend. Behind Stock's 72 saves, Brown shut out Quinnipiac 3-0 on Friday night, followed by a 2-1 overtime upset of Princeton on Saturday afternoon.
In the weekend opener against the Bobcats, Stock played with a one-goal lead for most of the game, but continually stifled the Quinnipiac offense to hold the lead for Brown, finishing with 30 saves in the shutout. The blanking was the seventh of her career and the first this season. Though she fell just short of another on Saturday afternoon, Stock was arguably even more impressive against the Tigers. Despite being under constant pressure, as the Bears were outshot 43-12 for the game, Stock gave up just a single goal, and maintained the tie for Brown until sophomore Jenna Dancewicz was able to pick up the game-winner.
For the season, Stock has 790 saves, and has recorded a 3.36 GAA and .915 save percentage. She is only 215 saves away from breaking her own single season record, and recently set a new standard for stops in a career.
The Bears will be back in action on Friday night, when they travel to Hanover to take on the Dartmouth Big Green at 7 p.m.
