Providence, RI - Brown junior Nicole Stock (Buffalo Grove, IL) has been named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week for the second time this season after leading the Bears to a split in conference contests against Quinnipiac and Princeton this weekend.
For the weekend, Stock made 61 saves on 63 shots, helping the Bears to a 6-1 win at Quinnipiac on Friday night and a narrow 2-0 loss at Princeton on Saturday. Her 22 saves against the Bobcats helped the Bears to their first win since opening the season with a 1-0 victory at Union. The next day, she made 39 saves, marking the 11th time in 17 starts she has topped 30.
Stock is currently ninth in the country with a .927 save percentage, also posting a 2.57 goals-against average. Her .933 save percentage in ECAC Hockey play is third in the conference. Stock has been one of the busiest goaltenders in the country this season, as she has started all 17 Brown contests and averaged 32.5 saves per game, third-highest in the nation. Her streak of 26 consecutive starts, which dates back to Jan. 20, 2007, is the longest at Brown since Ali Brewer '00 started 68 consecutive games from March 7, 1998, to March 25, 2000.
Stock was also named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week on Nov. 5. This is the fourth time in her career that she has received the honor.
