Women's Ice Hockey Set To Take On Huskies

Providence, RI - The Bears (9-4-0, 6-3-0 ECACHL) look to continue their current four game win streak when they face the University of Connecticut (5-7-3, 2-2-0 Hockey East), Tuesday January 4 at Meehan Auditorium for a 7:00 face-off. Brown is currently 5-2-0 when playing at Meehan. The last meeting between the two squads Connecticut came out on top 3-2 during the 2002-03 season.
During their four game win streak, the Bears have outscored their opponent 21-3, averaging seven goals a game. Freshman Hayley Moore (Wakefield, MA) has come on strong, scoring all three of her goals within the last three games. Moore was named ECACHL Rookie of the Week for her two-goal and three assist performance in Brown's final weekend of play in 2004 against Union. Senior forward Kerry Nugent (Andover, MA) and junior defender Myria Heinhuis (Chatham, ONT) lead the Bears in scoring, each netting six goals. Nugent currently holds the top spot on Brown for points recording 14.
Connecticut comes into the match-up in the midst of a four game losing streak, being outscored 15-7 by their opponents in the last four outings. The Huskies are lead by freshman Jaclyn Hawkins who has tallied a team high, ten goals in fifteen games for Connecticut.
The Bears are heading into the toughest part of their schedule, playing six games in thirteen days, including #4 Harvard January 11 and a weekend series against #1 Minnesota January 14 and 15. This will mark the final home game for Brown until they face Yale, Friday January 28. The Bears are 4-2-0 when on the road this season.
