The Brown University women's ice hockey team (3-3-0, 0-0-0) dropped to cross-town rival, Providence College, 4-1(3-4-2), in the 9th Annual Mayor's Cup Saturday afternoon at Schnedier Arena. Frank Santos Jr., Director of Recreation presented the trophy following the game.
Both teams came out quiet in the first and were kept to a scoreless tie until 16:22 of the second period. The Friars sent a goal flying past Brown goaltender to break the scoreless tie. However, the Bears answered back on a power play goal at 19:34 when junior Krissy McManus knocked a goal past a sprawling PC goalie. Sophomore Keaton Zucker had the assist on the play. The two rivals entered the third period tied at one a piece.
The Friars held onto the momentum and added another goal at 1:22 into the third period. They tacked on two more goals later in the period to seal the win in the 9th Annual Mayor's Cup.
Brown will return to action Friday, December 5 at 7:00 p.m. when it hosts Colgate at Meehan Auditorium.
