Box Score

Providence, RI - The Bears only needed twenty four seconds to put a point on the board, as sophomore Hayley Moore (Wakefield, MA) recorded her fourth goal of the season, in a two goal first period, as the Bears (3-4-0, 2-1-0) went on to defeat Dartmouth (3-4-0, 1-4-0) 2-0 this evening. Sophomore Stacy Silverman (Wakefield, MA) had a strong performance in goal for Brown, turning away all 27 shots she faced.

With the Big Green looking to clear the zone early in the first, a Dartmouth defensemen fired a puck towards the Big Green's blueline where senior Myria Heinhuis (Chatham, ONT) picked up the loose puck and fired a shot toward Dartmouth's goal. Goalie Kate Lane could not control the rebound and Moore hit it in for the Bear's first goal. On a Brown power play later in the period, sophomore Heather Lane (London, ONT) collected a puck from freshman Savanah Smith (Fort St. John, BC) and fired into past Darmtouth's goal minder, lighting the lamp and giving Brown a two goal lead going into the first intermission. Heinhuis wrapped the puck along the boards where Smith was waiting behind the net, and fed a pass to Lane who was skating into the slot for the power play goal.

Dartmouth pressured the Brown defense in the second period, looking to put the game at a one goal deficit. Silverman rose to the challenge, as she was hit with a flurry of eight shots in the second stanza. Dartmouth's Tiffany Hagge took a quick wrist shot that bounced away from Silverman to Big Green's Danielle Grundy who was skating in and looking at wide open right side of the net. Grundy shot the puck back at Silverman who made a blocker save to keep the Big Green off the board. With under five minutes to go in the second period, Dartmouth lost the puck at neutral ice and it was sent into the Big Green zone where Moore tried to track it down. Lane skated out of the crease trying to beat Moore to the puck, but Moore won the puck and was tripped up right outside the right face-off circle by Lane. Moore was still able to get a shot off while on both knees, but the puck was hit out of danger by Hagge as to keep the score at 2-0.

Dartmouth continued to pressure the final 20:00 but could not get anything past Silverman, as she recorded her first victory of the year.

The Bears will return to action tomorrow Saturday, November 19, when they face #6 Harvard at 4:00 PM at Meehan Auditorium.
