Dartmouth, NH - The women's hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision to 4th ranked Dartmouth Friday night. Sophomore Jessica Link (Clifton Park, NY) scored the lone goal for Brown, her fourth of the season. Senior goalkeeper Pam Dreyer (Eagle River, AK) recorded 30 saves, with several coming on Dartmouth breakaways, in 60:00 minutes of action. Freshman Myria Heinhuis (Chatham, ONT) set a new school record with six penalties in the game, which had a total of 24 penalties. The game was the Bears first ECAC contest of the season. Brown defeated Dartmouth in the ECAC Championship match last season, 4-3, in overtime to claim the ECAC title.
Dartmouth got on the board two minutes into the second period, after a scoreless first period. Sarah Clark scored the goal for the Big Green with Katie Weatherston and Amy Catlin picking up assists. At the 7:52 mark Link tied the game at 1-1 with her fourth goal of the season. Dartmouth goalie Amy Ferguson saved a slap shot by senior Kim Insalaco (Rochester, NY) but Link was there to knock in the rebound. Junior Kerry Nugent (Andover, MA) also picked up an assist on the goal. She currently leads Brown with five points on the year.
Dartmouth took a 2-1 lead when Krista Dornfried scored a shorthanded goal for the Big Green at the 14:52 mark of the second period. The Big Green added an insurance goal four minutes into the third period. Alana BreMiller scored on a pass from Carly Haggard.
Brown continues action tomorrow, Saturday Nov. 9, at Vermont for an ECAC contest starting at 4:00 p.m.
