Brown Defeats Connecticut Polar Bears in Exhibition Match 14-1

The Brown University women's ice hockey team defeated the Connecticut Polar Bears on Saturday, November 1, in an exhibition contest at Meehan Auditorium. Ten of the Bears players contributed in leading the team to a 14-1 victory. This was the Bears final tune-up before the 2003-2004 season opener.

Brown got on the board early in the first period with a goal from Junior Jessica Link (Clifton Park, NY). The Bears continued to dominate the period scoring eight goals. Brown added four goals in the second and two in the third.

Senior Kelly Sheridan (Short Hills, NJ) led the Bears with two goals and two assists and junior Kerry Nugent (Andover, MA) had three assists in the game.

Senior goaltender Katie Germain (Sarnia, ONT) played all 60 minutes and had 10 saves.

The Bears open the 2003-2004 season next Friday, November 7 against Maine at 7:00 p.m.
