The Big Green came out on fire, scoring just 20 seconds into the game. Sophomore Louise Pietrangelo squared up and fired a shot from the blue line past Bear goaltender Katie Germain (Sarnia, Ontario). Less than two minutes later, #1 Dartmouth found the back of the net again, as senior Kim McCullough beat Germain on a breakaway opportunity.

Brown's Krissy McManus (Dedham, MA) put the Bears on the board at the 6:20 mark of the period. McManus collected the puck on a Kim Insalaco shot, to make the score 2-1 going into the first intermission. Junior Pam Dreyer entered the game in net for Germain and posted 14 saves in the period.

In the second period, Dartmouth gave itself a 3-1 advantage when junior Amy Catlin netted a goal 8:48 into the period. Senior Meredith Ostrander (Prescott, Ontario) answered the goal, when she scored her second goal of the weekend with just under five minutes remaining in the period. Kelly Sheridan (Short Hills, NJ) assisted on the goal.

After nearly eighteen minutes of a scoreless third period, freshman Katie Guay (Westfield, MA) tied the score at the 17:54 mark. Guay won a face-off in Brown's zone and skated down the ice alone, beating Dartmouth goaltender Amy Ferguson to even the score 3-3 and send the championship game into overtime.

In overtime, junior Kim Insalaco registered her 13th goal of the season, when she tipped in a rebound that hit off the upper left post.
