Brown Finishes Closes Out Regular Season with 9-0 win over Yale

March 2, 2002

Fittingly, senior Kristy Zamora (Oshawa, Ontario) tallied Brown's first goal of the game at the 6:54 mark of the opening period. Jessica Link (Clifton Park, NY) and Kerry Nugent (Andover, MA) assisted on the goal. At the 16:34 mark of the period, Katie Lafleur (Aylmer, Quebec) gave Brown a 2-0 lead, when she fired a shot from the blue line past Yale goaltender, Nicolette Franck. Katie Guay (Westfield, MA) and Marguerite McDonald (Richboro, PA) assisted on that goal.

In the second period, Brown exploded for five goals, as Zamora netted her second just over two minutes into the period. Jessica Link recorded her first of two goals at 7:55, from Zamora and senior Meredith Ostrander (Prescott, Ontario). Krissy McManus found the back of the net twice, scoring first at the 10:14 mark and then again at 18:45. Kim Insalaco (Rochester, NY) and Courtney Johnson (Falmouth, MA) assisted on McManus' first goal, while Insalaco and Kim Fleet (Komoka, Ontario) tallied the helpers on her second. Insalaco also got her first goal of the game on a power play chance at 15:45.

In the final period, Link teamed up with Fleet and Zamora to make the score 8-0. Insalaco tallied Brown's final goal of the game at the 9:31 mark, with Johnson assisting.

Pam Dreyer returned to the Bears' lineup, and recorded 15 saves on the afternoon.

Brown will begin post-season play on March 8, when the Bears will host a best of three game series at Meehan Auditorium. Brown's opponent is still to be determined.
