Box Score

Providence, RI - Freshman O'Hara Shipe (Anchorage, AK) recorded her first complete shut out victory, saving all five shots that came her way, in tonight's 3-0, win over Vermont. The Bears (13-13-2, 10-8-1) controlled the flow of the game only letting the Catamounts get off five shots in the first two periods and shutting them out in the third. Freshman Hayley Moore (Wakefield, MA) netted two goals in tonight's victory.

In a scoreless first period the Bears put the pressure on out shooting the Catamounts 10-2. With under seven minutes remaining in the period Brown looked to have their first goal of the game when junior Myria Heinhuis (Chatham, ONT) found sophomore Kathryn Moos (Wayzata, MN) unmarked at the side of the Catamounts net. The goal was waved off because Moos had skated in the crease to keep the game scoreless going into the first intermission.

Senior Jessica Link (Clifton Park, NY) started off the scoring for the Bears netting her 14th goal of the season, on a Brown power play in the second period. Senior Amy McLaughlin (Berlin, MA) put the puck in front of the Catamounts net where junior Margaret Ramsay (Toronto, ONT) fired a shot that Vermont's goalie Kami Cote couldn't control, bouncing out to a waiting Link, who fired into the back of the net for the one goal lead. Three minutes later Moore netted her first of two goals to pad the lead to two going into the second intermission. Ramsay and Moos combined for the assists on the goal.

Moore got her second goal of the game with 4:29, left to go in the final period, when she intercepted a UVM pass in the Catamounts zone and slid the puck past Cote pushing the lead to three. The Bears played flawless in tonight's game, committing no penalties and keeping Vermont's offense out of their zone for most of the night.

The Bears will return to action tomorrow February 26 when they will host Dartmouth at 4:00 for their final home game of the season. Tomorrow's match-up will mark the Class of 2005's last contest at Meehan also. Seniors Katie Guay, Jessica Link, Krissy McManus, Amy McLaughlin and Kerry Nugent will be recognized in a ceremony immediately following tomorrow's game.
