Katie Lafleur got Brown on the board 3:28 into the game, after Jess Link won a face off, and slipped the puck to Lafleur, who fired a shot past Laker goaltender Desirae Clark. Cassie Turner gave the Bears a 2-0 lead, finishing a power play opportunity with less than 15 seconds remaining in the opening period. Kristy Zamora was net for the Bears and posted four saves.
In the second period, Mercyhurst was successful on three powerplay opportunities, scoring first at the 84:51 mark of the period, C.J. Ireland netted a goal to make the score 2-1. At 8:04, Sara McDonald completed another power play goal to even the score 2-2. The Bears took back the lead at 12:10, when Kerry Nugent netted her fourth goal in as many games, but the Lakers responded with another power play tally at the 17:52 mark, when Chrissy Yule found the back of the net past Katie Germain. Germain recorded nine saves in the period.
In the final period, the Lakers scored two unanswered goals to make the final score 5-3. Sara McDonald netted a goal, to give her a hat trick for the game, while, Chrissy Yule tallied the other goal of the period.
The Bears fall to 17-7-2 overall and 9-3-1 in the ECAC North. The team returns to action Saturday February 23 to host Harvard at Meehan Auditorium.
