Box Score

Hanover, NH - Sophomore goaltender Nicole Stock (Buffalo Grove, IL) made a career-high 45 saves as the Brown women's hockey team (10-16-2, 6-14-1 ECACHL) fell to #3 Dartmouth (22-4-2, 19-1-1), 6-0, at Thompson Arena Friday night. The Big Green scored their first four goals on power plays, two on five-on-three advantages, en route to the win. The loss officially knocks the Bears out of playoff contention.

Stock made several spectacular saves to keep the game scoreless early, making 17 total in the first period. However, the Big Green eventually broke through at 14:14. It appeared as though the Bears were about to successfully kill off 1:12 of a two-skater disadvantage. With just seven seconds remaining in the first penalty, Dartmouth forward Gillian Apps attempted to pass the puck into the slot from Stock's left. Unfortunately for the Bears, the puck bounced off of a defender who had gone to her knees to block the pass, ricocheting past Stock before she could react.

Dartmouth doubled its lead at 5:27 in the second period on another power play. Apps picked up her second goal of the game by posting up in the slot and deflecting in a slap shot from the left point. Stock helped keep it that way on Dartmouth's next power play about five and a half minutes later, making a highlight-reel save with Cherie Piper on a breakaway. As the Big Green forward came in from the right and deked, Stock was able to get her right pad out at the last second to stop Piper's low shot.

The Big Green scored their third goal of the game on another power play 8:53 into the third period. Dartmouth freshman Sarah Parsons skated in on Stock, passing the puck back to Katie Weatherston, who was trailing and scored. Dartmouth's fourth came on another five-on-three at 10:59, when Jenna Cunningham tucked a shot at a low angle over Stock's left shoulder. The final two goals, the first two even strength goals of the game, both came in the last half of the third period off of intercepted Brown passes.

For the game, the Big Green scored on four of nine power play attempts, while Brown went 0-5. Dartmouth also held a 51-14 advantage in shots.

The Bears' season will come to a close on Saturday, when the Bears come up against #6 Harvard (20-6-2, 16-4-1) at 4 p.m.
