The Brown University women's ice hockey team (12-5-2, 8-1-1) defeated Colgate (15-10-2, 6-6-0), 2-1 in overtime Saturday afternoon. Junior Jessica Link (Clifton Park, NY) and sophomore Keaton Zucker (Gilford, NH) each tallied two points to lead the Bears.
After 19 minutes of scoreless action, the Bears got on the board with a power-play goal at the 19:16 mark in the first period. Link tallied her 5th straight goal in five games on passes from Amy McLaughlin (Berlin, MA) and Zucker. Brown dominated the period out-shooting Colgate 20-3.
With tough defense from both teams, the second period remained scoreless. Although the Raiders had a number of close scoring opportunities senior Katie Germain (Sarnia, ONT), remained solid in net for the Bears and recorded eight saves in the period.
Colgate tied the score at 1-1 nine minutes into the third period. Neither team scored for the remainder of the game sending the game into overtime.
Freshman Kathryn Moos (Wayzata, Minn.) scored the game winner for Brown at 2:18 into overtime. Link and Zucker tallied assists on the play.
The Bears will return home Saturday, February 14 to host Harvard at 2:00 p.m.
