Feb. 4, 2005

Box Score

Hanover, NH - The Bears got off to a quick start, something they have been unable to do since the middle of January putting together a two goal first period. Dartmouth would not be denied scoring four unanswered goals defeating Brown 6-3. The Bears now stand at 10-10-2 overall and 7-7-1 in the ECACHL conference.

The Bears countered quickly after senior Amy McLaughlin (Berlin, MA) served a two minute penalty, catching the Big Green defense off guard. Sophomore Christine Holdredge (Ashley Falls, MA) won the puck along the boards and passed it ahead to junior Lindsey Glennon (Exter, NH), who found freshman Hayley Moore (Wakefield, MA) in the slot. Moore skated across the crease and put the puck past Big Green goaltender Christine Capuano giving Brown an early lead. The Bears would strike again with just over two minutes remaining in the period when sophomore Kathryn Moos (Wayzata, MN) one timed the puck in padding the lead to two. McLaughlin shot the puck deep in Dartmouth's zone, where Holdredge gained possession in the corner finding Moos unmarked with a wide open net in front of her. Freshman Stacy Silverman (Wakefield, MA) made a huge save as time expired in the first kicking her left pad out to keep the Big Green off the board.

The second period saw three unanswered Dartmouth goals giving the Big Green a 3-2, lead going into the final period. The Big Green netted their first goal 0:13 into the period, setting the tone for Dartmouth early in the second period. With the Bears committing four penalties in the period, most of the play was seen in Brown's zone, having Silverman come under fire from the Big Green offense. Silverman finished the period with 16 saves. Dartmouth got their second goal on power play when Tiffany Hagge recorded her 16th goal of the season, tying the game at two. The Big Green would later take the lead for good with 7:46 remaining in the second frame.

Dartmouth came out strong once again scoring 0:46 into the period padding their lead to two. The Bears would not quit pressuring Capuano and the Big Green defense pulling within one when Moore recorded her second goal of the game on a Brown power play, with less than four minutes remaining in the game. Moore intercepted a Dartmouth pass and faked out Capuano to pull Brown within one. Dartmouth would counter thirty seconds later when Either shot a rocket over Silverman's right shoulder pushing game out of reach of the Bears. Silverman finished the game with 43 saves. Hagge would record her third goal of the game on an empty net with less then a minute remaining in the game.

The Bears will return to action tomorrow February 5, when they travel to Burlington, VT for a 4:00 face-off with the Catamounts of UVM.
