Box Score

Providence, RI - Reigning ECACHL Player of the Year Sabrina Harbec had four goals and two assists, leading St. Lawrence (17-5-2, 9-3-0) to an 8-2 win over the Brown women's ice hockey team (4-12-2, 2-10-1), at Meehan Auditorium Saturday afternoon. Junior captain Hayley Moore (Wakefield, MA) extended her point streak to five games, scoring a power-play goal, and freshman Erin Connors (Newburyport, MA) scored her third goal of the year, giving her three straight games with a point.

The Saints picked up two goals in the first period, as Harbec scored one goal off a rebound and Crystal Connors scored by redirecting a Kerri Wallace shot in midair. But in the second period, the visitors broke out, scoring four goals. Harbec had three of those, and assisted on the other.

The Bears finally struck back early in the third with a five-on-three advantage, as Moore took a rebound off of a shot by Krystal Strassman (Madison, WI) and backhanded the puck over goaltender Meaghan Guckian's shoulder 23 seconds into the frame. At 8:57, Brown scored again, as Connors scored on her third attempt in the slot to cut the lead to four. Fellow first-years Amanda Asay (Prince George, BC) and Andrea Hunter (Fulton, NY) picked up assists on the play. However, the Saints added two more goals, one coming in the final minute.

For the game, St. Lawrence had a 29-27 advantage on shots. The Saints scored on three of seven power plays, while the Bears had one goal in six power-play chances.

Brown will have a chance to forget the loss quickly, as it hosts Northeastern in a non-conference tilt on Tuesday at Meehan. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
