Ithaca, NY - The women's ice hockey team (10-5-1, 7-4-0 ECACHL) rebounded after a tough loss the night before defeating Cornell University (3-9-2) 4-0 this afternoon in Ithaca, NY. Freshman Stacy Silverman (Wakefield, MA) recorded her first collegiate shut out in the victory recording 22 saves for Brown.

The Bears offense came alive early in the game, pressuring the Big Red defense. Senior Kerry Nugent (Andover, MA) recorded Brown's first goal, when she snapped a quick shot from senior Jessica Link (Clifton Park NY) for the early 1-0 lead. Later that period the Bears caught Cornell off guard during a quick transition to pad their lead to two going into the first intermission. Junior Keaton Zucker (Gilford, NH) dropped the puck back to Link who fed a pass to junior Lindsey Glennon (Exter, NH) at the point where Glennon shot a rocket over the left arm of Big Red goalie Beth Baronick with under three minutes remaining in the period.

With under nine minutes remaining in the second the Bears struck again when sophomore Christine Holdredge (Ashley Falls, MA) fired home a pass from Hayley Moore (Wakefield, MA) stretching Brown's lead to three. Later that period on a Bear power play Moore netted her fourth goal of the season when she fired a pass from Glennon past Baronick for Brown's fourth goal.

Silverman (Wakefield, MA) kept Cornell off the board turning away all 22 shots that came her way to preserve the win for the Bears.

The Bears will return to action Tuesday, January 11 when they will travel to Boston to take on the Crimson of Harvard University, for a 7:00 face-off.
