Women's Hockey Dominates Boston College In 6-2 Win.
The Bears maintained control of the puck for much of the first period as they tallied two goals to take a 2-0 lead. Brown's defense allowed the Eagles just four shots on goal while the offense pummeled goalkeeper Lisa Davis with 15 shots on goal in the period.
Link got the Bears on the board first at the 9:21 mark when she backhanded the puck in for her 10th goal of the season. Freshman Ashlee Drover and Johnson earned assists on the play. Thatcher single-handedly gave Brown a 2-0 lead less then two minutes later when she stole the puck from the opposite point and skated in all alone, beating Davis for her third goal of the season. The goal was the Bears second short-handed goal of the season.
Brown took a 3-0 lead after nearly 16 minutes of scoreless action in the second period. Senior Kim Insalaco tallied her first goal of the season at the 15:40 mark. Sophomore Katie Guay recorded her first assist of the season while junior Katie Lafleur earned her sixth on the play. With just over a minute left in the period, the Bears struck again to take a 4-0 lead. Thatcher picked up her second goal of the game while Link and Johnson recorded their second points of the game with assists on the play. The Bears did not allow the Eagles any shots on goal in the period as they out-shot them 16-0.
The final period saw a flurry of scoring on both ends. Boston College finally got on the board at the 8:48 mark but Brown quickly followed with a goal of its own to put the score at 5-1. Link tallied her second goal of the game with Johnson and Thatcher earning assists at 9:12. Brown score again at the 12:16 mark when Johnson scored her sixth goal of the season with Thatcher earning an assist, giving both players their fourth point on the night. The Eagles got one more on the board before the end of the game for a final of 6-2
Brown returns to action on Friday, Jan. 10 at Princeton.
