Brown opened the scoring at 14:59 of the first period, when senior Kristy Zamora (Oshawa, Ont.) found the back of the net on a rebound from a shot by Kerry Nugent (Andover, MA). The goal was Zamora's seventh in the last three games. Sophomore Marguerite McDonald (Richboro, PA) also tallied an assist on the goal. Junior Pam Dreyer was tested early, but kept the Purple Eagles scoreless, by recording 13 saves in the period. Niagara had a chance late in the period to even the score at 1-1, but the referee quickly waved off the tally, citing that the puck had been kicked in by a Niagara player.
In the second period, it was all the Purple Eagles, as Niagara outshot Brown 7-4 and netted two goals, to take a 2-1 lead entering the second intermission. On the first goal, Teresa Marchese-Del Monte stuffed the puck past Pam Dreyer at 10:20 of the period to tie the score at 1-1. Less than five minutes later, Dawn Macauley gave the Purple Eagles a 2-1 lead, when she fired a shot past Dreyer at 13:40 of the period.
Stephanie Romain gave the Purple Eagles a two goal lead at 10:10 of the third period, when she netted her fourth goal of the season, making the final score 3-1 in favor of Niagara.
Junior Pam Dreyer posted 26 saves on the afternoon for the Bears in net.
