Women’s Hockey Defeated by No. 2/3 Clarkson

POTSDAM, N.Y. - The Brown women's hockey team was defeated by No. 2/3 Clarkson, 4-0, at Cheel Arena on Friday night. Sophomore Calla Isaac (Sherwood Park, Alberta) concluded the night with 42 saves for the Bears in net.

The Golden Knights (25-3-1, 15-2-0 ECAC) opened the game with two straight power-play goals, the first in the opening period by Michaela Pejzlova (17:05) and the second in the second stanza at 4:45 by Loren Gabel.

Isaac made an impressive 17 saves in the opening period while Clarkson capitalized on its lone power play chance. Brown (2-22-0, 1-16-0 ECAC) had one opportunity on the power play in the frame and generated two shots but could not find the back of the net.

In addition to Gabels power play goal in the second, Savannah Harmon scored at 7:35 to give the Golden Knights a 3-0 advantage. Elizabeth Giguere closed out the game's scoring 1:42 into the third.

Overall, the Bears were 0-for-4 on the power play while the Golden Knights were 2-for-3.

Isaac posted 12 saves in the second and 13 in the third to bring her to her total of 42. She now has 10 games this season with 30 or more saves. Jenna Brenneman made 23 saves on the other end for Clarkson.

Sophomore Sena Hanson (New Brighton, Minn.) led the Bear offense in shots for the contest with six while junior Abby Niewchas (Cochrane, Alberta) and senior Sam Donovan (New Brighton, Minn.) each had three.

The Bears close out the weekend at No. 8/8 St. Lawrence tomorrow, Feb. 3, with a 3:00 p.m. game.
