  • Women’s Hockey Defeated by No. 8/8 Cornell, 5-1
    November 17, 2017
    The Brown women’s hockey team was defeated by No. 8/8 Cornell, 5-1, on Friday night at Meehan Auditorium. Sophomore Sena Hanson (New Brighton, Minn.) scored for the Bears on the night, her team-leading third tally of the year.
  • Women’s Hockey Welcomes No. 8/8 Cornell (Fri.) and No. 3/3 Colgate (Sat.)

    The Brown women’s hockey team will welcome No. 8/8 Cornell and No. 3/3 Colgate to Meehan Auditorium on Friday, Nov. 17 and Saturday, Nov. 18, respectively. Friday’s puck drop against the Big Red is set for 6:00 p.m. while Saturday’s contest versus the Raiders will begin at 3:00 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on the Ivy League Network.
  • Corcoran, Swanstrom Earn Brown Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

    Men’s ice hockey senior forward Charlie Corcoran and women’s ice hockey senior forward Samantha Swanstrom have earned Brown University Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Nov. 6-12, Brown announced on Monday.
  • Women’s Hockey Comes Back to Defeat Dartmouth, 3-2

    Dartmouth scored two first period goals to claim a 2-0 lead but the Brown women’s hockey team would register two in the second to tie the contest and senior Sam Donovan (New Brighton, Minn.) would record the game winner in the third for a 3-2 victory at Thompson Arena on Saturday.
  • Women’s Hockey Falls at Harvard, 6-3

    Trailing 5-0 in the third period, the Brown women’s hockey team tallied three unanswered goals in less than four minutes to pull within two, but Harvard would score at 19:07 to secure a 6-3 win at Bright-Landry Center on Friday night.
  • Women’s Hockey Continues ECAC Play on the Road at Harvard (Fri.) and Dartmouth (Sat.)

    The Brown women’s hockey team will make a quick trip up to Cambridge, Mass. to face Harvard on Friday, Nov. 10 and will then travel to Hanover, N.H. to square off against Dartmouth on Saturday, Nov. 4. The game against the Crimson will begin at 6:00 p.m. while the contest versus the Big Green will start at 3:00 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on the Ivy League Network while the Dartmouth game will also be on ESPN3.
  • Women’s Hockey Defeated by No. 3/3 Clarkson, 11-1

    The Brown women’s hockey team was defeated by No. 3/3 Clarkson, 11-1, on Saturday afternoon at Meehan Auditorium. The Bears, facing their second ranked opponent in as many days, received a score from sophomore Steph Rempe (Calgary, Alberta) in the contest.
  • Women’s Hockey Falls Short to No. 7/7 St. Lawrence, 6-3

    The Brown women’s hockey team was defeated by No. 7/7 St. Lawrence, 6-3, on Friday night at Meehan Auditorium. After falling behind 4-0 after two periods, the Bears rallied and generated two quick goals in the beginning of the third, from juniors Cara Najjar (Stoneham, Mass.) and Abby Niewchas (Cochrane, Alberta). St. Lawrence gained a goal back before sophomore Veronica Alois (Andover, Mass.) scored Brown’s third of the frame to again put the Bears within striking distance, but the Saints shutdown comeback with a goal soon after to seal the victory.
  • Women’s Hockey Entertains No. 7/7 St. Lawrence (Fri.) and No. 3/3 Clarkson (Sat.)

    The Brown women’s hockey team returns home to Meehan Auditorium to host a pair of ranked opponents in No. 7/7 St. Lawrence and No. 3/3 Clarkson, the defending NCAA Champion, on Friday, Nov. 3 and Saturday, Nov. 4, respectively. The game against the Saints will begin at 6:00 p.m. while the contest versus the Golden Knights will start at 3:00 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on the Ivy League Network.
  • Women’s Hockey Drops 4-1 Decision at RPI

    The Brown women’s hockey team was defeated by Rensselaer, 4-1, at Houston Field House on Saturday. Sophomore Alley Rempe (Calgary, Alberta) scored in her second-straight game but it wasn’t enough as the Engineers capitalized on the power play, generating two scores off of the opportunities in the third period.
  • Women’s Hockey Ousted at Union, 6-3
    October 27, 2017
    The Brown women’s hockey team was defeated by Union, 6-3, in its first league game of the season on Friday at Messa Rink. The Dutchwomen recorded two goals in each period to skate away with the victory while Brown generated a goal in each frame that included freshman Kaitijane Blumberg’s (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) first-career goal.
  • Women’s Hockey Opens ECAC Play at Union (Fri.) and RPI (Sat.)

    The Brown women’s hockey team will embark on its first road trip of 2017-18 and start ECAC play at Union on Friday, Oct. 27 and at Rensselaer on Saturday, Oct. 28. Both contests will begin at 3:00 p.m.
  • Women’s Hockey Defeated by No. 10 Robert Morris, 3-2, with Last Second Goal

    With the score tied 2-2, and time winding down in the third period, Natalie Fraser lifted No. 10 Robert Morris past the Brown women’s hockey, 3-2, with a diving shot and two seconds remaining in regulation at Meehan Auditorium on Saturday afternoon.
  • Women’s Hockey Falls to No. 10 Robert Morris, 11-0

    The Brown women’s hockey team was defeated by No. 10 Robert Morris, 11-0, at Meehan Auditorium on Friday night to open the 2017-18 season. The Colonials had a balanced scoring attack as seven different players recorded goals.

    The Brown women’s hockey team will open its 2017-18 campaign and host No. 10 Robert Morris in a non-conference series on Friday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 21 at Meehan Auditorium. Friday’s contest will begin at 6:00 p.m. while Saturday’s puck drop is set for 1:00 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on the Ivy League Network.

  • Women’s Hockey to Host Kunlun Red Star (CWHL) in Exhibition Game on Friday

    The Brown women's ice hockey team will play the Kunlun Red Star of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL) in an exhibition contest on Friday, October 13 at Meehan Auditorium. The Chinese-based Red Star recently joined the CWHL with a five-year deal starting with the 2017-18 season. The team features 2017 Brown graduate Maddie Woo and former Bear head coach Digit Murphy.
  • Doug Michals Named Women’s Hockey Assistant Coach

    Brown women’s ice hockey head coach Bob Kenneally ’90 announced the hiring of Doug Michals as an assistant goalie coach to the program on Tuesday.
  • Women’s Hockey’s Woo ’17 and Kittredge ’14 Selected in the CWHL Draft

    Former Brown women’s hockey student-athletes Maddie Woo ’17 and Kelly Kittredge ’14 were drafted in the seventh round of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL). Kittredge was selected with the 46th overall pick by the Boston Blades while Woo was picked up by the Kunlun Red Star with the 48th overall selection.
  • Women’s Hockey’s Donovan Drafted by the Connecticut Whale of the NWHL

    Brown women’s hockey senior forward Sam Donovan was selected by the Connecticut Whale with the fifth overall pick of the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL) Draft on Thursday night.
  • Women’s Hockey Lands 22 on 2016-17 ECAC All-Academic Team

    The Brown women's hockey team placed 22 student-athletes on the 2016-17 ECAC All-Academic Team, the ECAC Hockey conference office announced on Friday. Brown and Quinnipiac led the league with 22 honorees while Yale (20) and Harvard (19) followed.
  • Women’s Hockey Releases 2017-18 Schedule

    Brown women's ice hockey head coach Bob Kenneally ’90 announced the team’s 2017-18 schedule on Friday. The Bears will host 13 games in Meehan Auditorium, and play in 16 road contests. A total of eight games will be played against NCAA qualifying teams, in series versus Robert Morris, St. Lawrence, Clarkson and Cornell.
