Robson Becomes First Woman to Earn NEHWA Unsung Hero Award
BOSTON, Mass. – Brown women’s hockey junior Sarah Robson (Mississauga, Ontario) has been named the Joe Tomasello Award Unsung Hero by the New England Hockey Writers Association, becoming the first female to do so. Robson’s historical accolade puts her alongside some of the best men’s college hockey players in the country, including back-to-back Leonard Fowle Award winner Johnny Gaudreau of Boston College, the nation’s Most Valuable Player as voted by the NEHWA.

Women’s Hockey Volunteers with Greater Providence Youth Hockey Association
PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The Brown University women’s hockey team took the ice to skate with members of the Greater Providence Youth Hockey Association (GPYHA) during the group’s Special Hockey session at Dennis Lynch Arena on Saturday. Members of the Bears squad guided the crew of nearly two dozen youth hockey players through skill instruction and an organized game.

Moore Named to ECAC Hockey All-League Third Team
ALBANY, N.Y. – Brown women’s hockey senior goalie Aubree Moore (Bowie, Md.) was named to the ECAC Hockey All-League Third Team as announced by the league office on Saturday. Moore’s accolade comes shortly after being named to the All-Ivy Second Team on Feb. 27.

Women’s Hockey Dropped by Colgate in Overtime, 3-2
HAMILTON, N.Y. – Senior Vanessa Welten (Crysler, Ontario) potted the tying goal in the third period to force overtime, but Colgate’s Taylor Volpe fired in the game-winner with 45 seconds left to play to give the Raiders a 3-2 win over the Brown women’s hockey team in ECAC Hockey action at Starr Rink on Friday. The contest was the ninth overtime decision for the Bears this season, tying the program record set by the 2011-12 team.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Brittany Moorehead (Clinton, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season to give the Brown women’s hockey team a lead that would last into the third period, but Yale unleashed a three-goal outburst in the final stanza to defeat the Bears, 3-1, in ECAC Hockey action at Meehan Auditorium on Saturday. The Bulldogs (7-10-4, 5-5-4 ECAC) emerge from the home-and-home series with a 1-0-1 mark over the Bears (2-14-5, 1-10-3 ECAC) following last night’s 2-2 tie in New Haven, Conn.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The nation’s top defense clamped down on the Brown women’s hockey team as No. 5/6 Clarkson ran away with 4-1 win in ECAC Hockey action at Meehan Auditorium on Saturday. Senior goalie Aubree Moore (Bowie, Md.) made 45 saves and sophomore Alli Rolandelli (Minnetonka, Minn.) tallied her first career goal late in the third period for Brown (2-13-4, 1-9-2 ECAC), but the Golden Knights (17-4-3, 8-2-2 ECAC) offense proved too fierce and fired 49 shots on goal to extend their unbeaten streak to seven games.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Jessica Hoyle (Toronto, Ontario) put the Brown women’s hockey team ahead 2-1 early in the third period but Janine Weber fired in the game-winning goal 1:27 into overtime to help Providence College top Brown 3-2 and reclaim the Mayor’s Cup at Schneider Arena on Saturday. The Bears, who held the Cup for two seasons after last year’s 2-2 tie, fall to 1-8-2 overall, while the Friars improve to 7-10-0 on the season.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Freshman Maddie Woo (Plymouth, Minn.) scored her first collegiate goal in grand fashion when she potted the game-winner with 1:47 left in overtime to give the Brown women’s ice hockey team a 2-1 win over RIT in non-conference action at Ritter Arena on Saturday. The Bears exact revenge for a 2-1 setback in yesterday’s opener, improving to 1-1-0 with the season’s first victory. The Tigers slip to 4-5-0 on the year despite firing a season-high 55 shots on goal.

Bourbeau Announces 2013-2014 Women's Ice Hockey Schedule
Amy Bourbeau, the head coach of the Brown women’s ice hockey team, has recently announced the Bears’ 2013-2014 schedule. The upcoming campaign will feature 13 home contests, seven non-league match-ups and 22 league battles. Additionally, the squad will square off against three teams that skated in the 2013 NCAA Women’s Ice Hockey Championship Tournament, battling each on two separate occasions.

Brown head women’s ice hockey coach Amy Bourbeau has announced the four members of the Class of 2017 who will be joining the Bears on the ice in the fall of 2013. The group includes two forwards, a defender and a goalie, and the student-athletes represent three states and the province of New Brunswick.
