After finishing with just one tie all of last season, Brown came away with its third in four games on Saturday afternoon, pulling out a comeback 1-1 tie on the strength of rookie Kelly Griffin's third period goal. With the tie, Brown moves to 1-4-3 on the season, with an 0-3-3 record in league play, while RPI improves to 4-6-4 overall and 2-2-2 against ECAC Hockey.
Rensselaer got on the board first, scoring late in the opening frame to take a 1-0 lead. However, rookie goalie Katie Jamieson shut the door on the Engineers for the rest of the game, making 37 total saves to match her career high. Behind Jamieson's goalkeeping, the Bears hung close through a scoreless second period, and entered the third still trailing by a single goal.
Near the beginning of the third period though, junior Erica Kromm stole the puck near the boards, and sent a pass along to Griffin, who put it over the shoulder of RPI's goalie to tie the game. From there, both goalies played well, and neither team was able to pull away for the win, as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
The Bears will be back in action on Friday, November 20, when they return home to host the Dartmouth Big Green.
