The Brown women's hockey team lost a tough 5-0 contest to Princeton on Saturday afternoon, as the Tigers were able to outscore Bruno despite an impressive 33 saves from rookie goalie Katie Jamieson. With the loss, Brown falls to 1-4-1 on the season, including an 0-3-1 league record, while Princeton improves to 4-1-1 overall, and 3-0-1 against ECAC Hockey opponents.
Despite relatively even play in the opening period, Princeton was able to bookend goals in the frame for a 2-0 lead going into the locker rooms. The Tigers scored just 14 seconds into the game, when their initial shot appeared to take an unlucky bounce, and ended up in net. Though the Bears quickly settled down and held Princeton for most of the remainder of the period, the Tigers caught Brown on a line change with less than a minute to go, and capitalized for the second goal of the game and a 2-0 lead.
Princeton added two more goals in the second, including a five-on-three score with just under three minutes to play before the break. Jamieson notched 18 saves in the period, but came under a steady barrage of shots from the visitors. The Tigers added an insurance goal in the third, and held on for the final 5-0 win.
The Bears will be back in action on November 13, when they travel to Albany to take on Union College at 7:00 p.m.
