Wallace, NC - With the weather in the Northeast being unpredictable and most of the golf courses still closed from the winter, Brown head coach Danielle Griffiths brought her women's golf team to North Carolina to compete for the first time in 2007. The rust from a winter's layoff was evident and the Brown women's golf finished 15th at the University of North Carolina Wilmington Lady Seahawk Invitational with a three-day team score of 1023 at the River Landing GC.
"I have to give this team a lot of credit for never giving up and playing very hard," said Griffiths. "Most all of the teams we faced have played in at least 4 tournaments. I am very proud of the entire team."
There were a couple of bright spots for the Bears, including returning All-Ivy junior Blythe Crane (Chelsea, MI), who cranked out scores of 77, 78, 83--350 to place 48th overall. Junior Tiffany Wade (Alameda, CA) placed 74th overall with a three-round 251, shooting consistent scores of 85, 83, 83.
Sophomore Holly Snyder (East Longmeadow, MA) played well in he first two rounds with scores of 86, 84. Freshman Kendall Bennett (Warwick, RI) shot a first round 89. Freshman Keiko Fukuda (San Francisco, CA) also competed for the Bears. Playing as individuals, junior Elizabeth Fisher (Washington, DC) shot two solid rounds of 89, 86, following a two-year hiatus.
