Brittany Park Named Ivy League W. Golf Rookie of the Year; Danielle Griffiths Named Ivy Coach of the Year

Providence, R.I. -  Brown freshman Brittany Park (Fullerton, CA) has become the first golfer in Brown history to be named Ivy League Women's Golf Rookie of the Year and head women's golf coach Danielle Griffiths has been named the Ivy League Coach of the Year in a vote of the Ancient Eight head golf coaches.

 

In addition, the All-Ivy team was officially announced with Park earning First Team honors, and senior Christine Kim (San Jose, CA) and freshman Naomi Lee (Menlo Park, CA) earning Second Team honors.

 

Park placed third at the conference championship shooting 72-77-76—225 at the Metedeconk National Golf Club to earn First Team All-Ivy status. She dominated the field at the St. John's Invitational, earning a first-place finish by five shots, shooting 72-75--147. Park also earned a Top 10 finish at the Harvard Invitational, placing seventh individually after shooting 72-78-74—224. 

 

Griffiths' squad came into the 2018 season at the Ivy League Championship as an underdog and finished third after leading in the first two rounds, Brown's best finish since 2003. The women's golf team placed second at the Hartford Invitational, second at the St. John's Invitational and second at the Florida Atlantic Winter Warm-up. Griffiths has been the head coach of the Bears since 2007.

 

Kim, the Ivy League individual champion in 2015, is the ninth player in Ivy League history to be a four-time All-Ivy selection. She finished ninth at the 2018 Ivy League Championship after shooting 79-76-73—228 in her final collegiate competition.  Lee shot 227 for a seventh-place finish on rounds of 77-75-75 at the Ivy Championship.
