Providence, R.I. - Brown will host 10 other schools at the Brown Bear Fall Invitational- Sunday- Monday October 15-16 at Ledgemont Country Club. This will be the first event Brown has hosted in the fall at its new home course, Ledgemont CC, the par-71 6100-yard championship golf course in Seekonk, MA.
The competition this weekend includes opponents Seton Hall, St. John's, Quinnipiac, Lehigh, Farleigh Dickinson, Hartford, Long Island, Siena, Central Connecticut, and Wagner.
While there will be stiff competition this week, the team has performed well in the first two events of the fall season. The Bears placed 4th out of 16 teams at the Boston College Intercollegiate with two performances in the top 10 - freshman Brittany Park and senior Christine Kim. Another rookie, Winnie McCabe, shined at the Hartford event placing 3rd individually while the team came in 2nd.
"We are looking forward to playing at home and extremely fortunate to have a golf course that is as welcoming as Ledgemont Country Club and their head pro, Troy Pare and staff," said Brown head coach Danielle Griffiths. "Along with a great golf course, we are very grateful to our tournament sponsors, Paula and Kevin McNamara. Their generous support has made this a very special event for all the players involved."
BROWN STARTING FIVE
Brown's starting five will be senior Christine Kim, freshman Brittany Park, freshman Winnie McCabe, senior Sienna Chapman and junior Lizzy Doykan. Playing as individuals will be Grace Daly, Madeleine Garay, Haley Mander, Leah Fowler and Naomi Lee.
The Brown Bear Invitational is a 36-hole tournament with single rounds scheduled Sunday (first tee times at 10:00am), Monday (shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.)
