GREENVILLE, N.C. – Coach Danielle Griffith's Brown women's golf team finished 14th at the rain-shortened Lady Pirate Intercollegiate after the final round was cancelled due to unplayable conditions. The two-day, 54-hole event, which was being played at the par-72, 6,004-yard Greenville Country Club, was reduced to an 18-hole tournament after torrential rain Monday afternoon that caused the cancellation of the final 36-holes.
With the rain-shortened event, Maryland claims the 2012 team title for the third consecutive year with a 7-over par 295. The Terrapins and UNC Wilmington were tied after 18 holes, but due to the fifth player tie-breaker rule, Maryland was awarded the team title. Old Dominion placed third (301), followed by Elon (302), Coastal Carolina (303), Southern Mississippi (303), Longwood (303), East Carolina (305), Boston College (307), Yale (308), Samford (309), UNCG (311), Augusta State (311), Brown (319), William & Mary (319), Georgia State (321), Marshall (322), Radford (323), Western Carolina (325), High Point (325).
Bears' freshman Maggie Min shot a one-over par 73 to finish 13th individually in the 103 player field. Sophomore Stephanie Hsieh was 33rd as an individual after shooting 77.
The Bears will conclude their fall season on October 21-22, competing at the Sacred Heart Fall Classic at the Great River CC in Milford, Conn.
