Bears at Baltusrol
When the Ivy League was looking for a venue to host its men's and women's golf championship, Brown alumni Jim Noonan '58 and Dennis Buchart P'03 stepped up to the plate with a championship course beyond the wildest imagination of the league, its coaches and players. The dream came to fruition for both the Brown men's and women's golf teams and their Ivy brethren, April 23-25, with the 54-hole Ivy Championship being played at the Baltusrol Golf Course that sits at the base of Baltusrol Mountain in northern New Jersey, only a stone's throw from New York City.

Megan Tuohy ‘12 Wins WGAMI City Amateur Championship
Brown junior Megan Tuohy continued her outstanding play in the off-season with a first place finish at the Women’s Amateur Golf Association of Metropolitan Indianapolis City Amateur Championship, played at the Meridian Hills Country Club, June 7-10.

Women’s Golfers Finish 5th At Ivy League Championship
The Brown women’s golf team completed play at the 54-hole Ivy League Championship with its best finish in recent years, placing fifth overall after shooting 339 on Sunday at the par-72, 6,099 yard Baltusrol Golf Club.

The Brown women’s golf team moved up to fifth place after shooting 325, seven shots better than its first round score, on the second day of competition at the Ivy League Championship, held at Baltusrol Country Club’s 6,100-yard par-72 Upper Course, at the base of the Baltusrol Mountains.

Junior Sarah Guarascio fired an even par 72 on the final day of competition to help the Brown women’s golf team to a 9th place finish at the Roar-ee Invitational, hosted by Columbia, at the Spook Rock Golf Club.

After the first round of the 15-team Roar-ee Invitational, hosted by Columbia University, Brown stands in fifth place following a first round 316 at the Spook Rock Country Club. Harvard leads the tournament by six shots with a first day 300.

Golfers Place 12th At Georgetown Hoya Invitational
Brown's women's golf team improved on the final day of play at the Georgetown Hoya Invitational at the 6,127 yard par-72 Four Streams Golf Club, finishing 12th in the 17 team field with a two-round 671, just one shot out of 11th place.

Displaying consistency throughout the lineup, coach Danielle Griffiths’ Brown women’s golf team shot 337 on the first day of play at the Georgetown Hoys Invitational, played at the 6,127 yard par-72 Four Streams Golf Club. The Bears are 13th in the 17-team field, with Nova Southeastern University holding the lead at 303.

After day one of play at the Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate Women’s Golf Tournament on the par 72, 6028-yard course at the Victoria Country Club, the Brown women’s golf team stands in 16th place in its first competition of the spring season.

The Brown women’s completed its first tournament of the spring season with a 16th place finish at the Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate, hosted by Texas State at the par 72, 6028-yard course at the Victoria Country Club.

Bears Finish Second At Central Connecticut Fall Invitational
The Brown women’s golf team saved the best until last, finishing second at the Central Connecticut Fall Invitational, its final competition of the fall season. The Bears shot a two-round 663 on rounds of 330-333 at the par-72 rain soaked Stanley Municipal Golf Course. Sophomore Heather Arison led the Bears and finished third overall with a two-round 161, shooting 79-82.

Brown wrapped up its fall season with a solid third place finish at the Sacred Heart Fall Invitational, played at the par-72, 5,922 yard Great River Golf Club. The Bears shot a two-round 670 (336, 334) to place third behind St. John’s (642) and Hartford (669), and ahead of Sacred Heart (685), Fairfield (708), Boston U. (717), Central Connecticut (725) and St. Francis NY (794).

The Brown women’s golf team improved on the final day of the Richmond Spider Invitational, played at the par-72, 6,113 yard Independence Golf Club, finishing 12th with a two-round team score of 655. Sophomores Carly Arison and Megan Tuohy were Brown’s top scorers and finished 44th individually with two-round scores of 162.

The Ivy League office announced recently that the 2010 Ivy League Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships will be played April 23-25 at the world-renowned Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J.

Bears Place 5th In Rain-Shortened Yale Invitational
Brown shot a two-round 638 (323, 306 ) to place fifth at the Yale Invitational played at the par-71 Yale Golf Course, as the final round was postponed due to rain. The Bears’ second round 306 was the second lowest score of the day with sophomore Heather Arison and junior Sarah Guarascio shooting 75 each for coach Danielle Griffith’s squad.

Restrepo's 73 Helps Brown Takes 3rd Place At Dartmouth Invitational
Brown opened its 2009 fall season with a strong performance at the Dartmouth Invitational held at the par-72 Hanover Country Club, finishing third in the 20-team field with a two-day 631 (315, 316), just six shots behind first place Towson (625) and four shots behind second place Boston College (627). Junior captain Susan Restrepo came through on Sunday with a sizzling one-over par 73 to finish 10th individually.

Claire Straty Joins Brown Women’s Golf Team
Brown head women’s golf coach Danielle Griffiths has announced that Claire Straty will be attending Brown and join the team for the upcoming fall season. Straty comes to Brown following a stellar high school career at Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas.

Five Brown Golfers Named To NGCA All-American Scholar Team
Five members of coach Danielle Griffiths’ Brown women’s Golf team have been selected to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team for 2009. Julia Robinson ’11 (Rehoboth Beach, DE), Carly Arison ’12 (Copley, OH), Heather Arison ’12 (Copley, OH), Megan Tuohy ’12 (Indianapolis, IN) and Susan Restrepo ’11 (Jacksonville Beach, FL) were selected to the team of 410 women’s collegiate golfers for Division I, II and III, recognizing their academic success.
