Lloyd and Posa Earn NFHCA All-Region Honors
Nov. 13, 2006
Brown field hockey senior Samantha Lloyd (Shavertown, PA) and junior Andrea Posa (Weston, MA) were named 2006 NFHCA All-Northeast Region. A Second Team All-Region selection a year ago, Lloyd was named First Team, while Posa earned a spot on the Second Team.
A three-year starter in the midfield, Lloyd was named a unanimous First Team All-Ivy selection last week. The Bears' third-leading scorer with 13 points (4g, 5a), Lloyd ranked sixth in the Ivy League with five assists this season. Brown's leading scorer a year ago with 20 points, Lloyd finished her career with 39 points (14g, 11a). A one-time Ivy League Player of the Week (10/10) this year, Lloyd will represent Brown later this month at the annual North/South Senior All-Star game to be played at Wake Forest on November 18.
Posa, who also earned Second Team All-Ivy honors, shared the team and the Ivy League lead this season with nine goals on the year. After playing a significant role off the bench during her first two seasons, Posa came alive this year, finishing second on the team with 18 points, including three game-winning goals. Posa was named Ivy Player of the Week (9/26) after scoring three goals in two games, including a 1-0 victory over Harvard.
Brown finished the season with an 9-7 record and a 3-4 mark in the Ivy League.
