Brown freshman field hockey player Lizzie Buza (Houston, TX) has earned the honor of Ivy League Rookie of the Week after notching a goal and an assist against the University of Pennsylvania on Sunday.
She assisted on the first goal of the game and scored the last goal of the game en route to a 5-0 shutout of the Quakers, giving the Bears their second Ivy victory of the season and improving their record to 8-6 overall. Buza now has two goals and four assists from her midfield position. These eight points are good enough to lead the freshmen on the team and rank fifth overall in scoring for Brown, which is nationally ranked 12th in the area of scoring offense with an average of 2.82 goals per game.
Buza is one of many talented freshmen Brown players this year, but is the only one to have started in every single game. Since the first day, she has made quite an impression and is much more poised and experienced than her rookie status would suggest. She is a key playmaker for the Bears in the midfield and has been a consistently strong player all year long. With three seasons left in her collegiate career, she is only going to get better.
