PROVIDENCE, RI - Brown senior field hockey co-captain Brooke Townsend (Stanford, CT) has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week after leading the Bears to a 1-1 week with four goals in the two games.
Townsend, who is second on the team with 15 points (6g, 3a) scored one goal against Providence, before earning a hat-trick in the Bears' 4-2 victory over Cornell. She scored the Bears' first goal of the game as well as the third and fourth goals with her third goal proving to be the game-winner, as the Bears snapped Cornell's four-game winning streak and also snapped a three-game skid of their own. Earlier in the week she was named as an Alternate for the North squad for the annual North/South Senior All-Star Game.
Currently 3-2 in the Ivy League, the Bears will look to finish with a 5-2 record when they wrap up the Ivy League schedule, and the season, against Penn and Yale. Brown hosts Penn in its final home game of the season this Saturday, October 29, at 12:00 noon, and travels to Yale on Saturday, November 5th.
