Kazarian and Posa Named 2007 Field Hockey Captains

PROVIDENCE, RI - Brown field hockey seniors Ani Kazarian (Providence, RI) and Andrea Posa (Weston, MA) have been named captains for the 2007 season. The duo will look to lead the Bears this season as they look to challenge for a finish at the top of the Ivy standings.
Kazarian has played in all 48 games over the past three seasons, starting in 44, including all 16 in 2006. An Honorable Mention All-Ivy selection at the conclusion of last year, she has been a mainstay in the midfield and has posted 6-1-13 numbers in her career. In addition to her on-field accomplishments, Kazarian was also nominated for the Coca-Cola Community All-American Award and is a featured athlete in the Boldly Brown Campaign.
Posa had a break-out year last season, leading the Bears and the Ivy League with nine goals. A Second Team All-Ivy and Second Team All-Region selection, Posa also led Brown with three game-winning goals. The recipient of the team's Outstanding Offensive Player Award last year, Posa is also successful off the field, earning Second Team District I ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors.
The Bears open their 2007 season tomorrow afternoon when they face Vermont at 2:00 p.m.
