Brown Field Hockey Camps Now Accepting Applications

The Brown University Field Hockey Camp, under the direction of Head Coach Carolan Norris, is now accepting applications for both sessions of its 2000 summer camps. The dates are August 2-5 and August 6-9, 2000. Both sessions are night camps, running from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. each evening, and the cost is $140.00. The camps are open to players of all ages.

Norris was named the 1999 NFHCA Northeast Region Coach of the Year, in just her second year at the helm, guiding her 1999 squad to a 13-4 record, the most wins in school history. The team won its first Ivy League title since 1991, posting a 6-1 Ivy ledger and finished the season ranked 17th in the country. By winning the conference title, Brown represented the Ivy League in the NCAA Championship, marking the Bears' first NCAA appearance in school history. Along the way, the team also rewrote the Brown record book, setting new marks for team scoring in a season; individual scoring in a game, season and career; assists in a game, season and career; and points in a game, season and career.

A native of Wakefield, Rhode Island, Norris is a graduate of South Kingstown High School where she was an all-state field hockey player. She played collegiate field hockey at the University of Connecticut, playing on the 1981 Husky field hockey team that won the NCAA National Championship. She also captained the 1982 squad. As a senior, she was selected to the NCAA All-Tournament Field Hockey team.
