Five Field Hockey Players Earn 2002 NFHCA National Academic Honors

Five members of the field hockey team were named to the 2002 National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad. Each student-athlete earned a GPA of 3.30 or better during the fall of 2002.

A senior tri-captain from Walpole, MA, Cory Pelletier was a four-year starter at defense and finished her career with 33 goals on 11 goals and 11 assists, in 63 games. Fellow senior tri-captain Colleen Kanara, hails from Kennett Square, PA, and finished her career with three assists in 34 games.

Sophomore Katie Noe, from Simsbury, CT, just finished her second year as the starting goalie. In 32 career games, she has a 2.05 goals against average, a .746 save percentage, and a 15-15 overall record.

Lastly, freshmen Lindsay Boris, from Shavertown, PA, and Laura Kavazanjian, a native of Setauket, NY, were each selected to the squad. Both were crucial members of the Brown defense, each playing in 13 games, while Kavazanjian posted two defensive saves.

Brown finished the season with a 7-9 record and returns five of the top eight scorers and the majority of the defense for next season.
