Zysk's Pair Leads Bears Past Yale, 3-0, In Season Finale
Nov. 3, 2007
NEW HAVEN, CT - Searching for its first win of the season and playing in the final game of the year, the Brown field hockey team (1-16, 1-6) went out with a dominating performance over Yale (7-10, 2-5) on a rainy Saturday afternoon in New Haven. Freshman Tacy Zysk (Walpole, MA) doubled her season goal total with two goals, while classmate Katie Hyland (Riegelsville, PA) added the other goal in the win.
Zysk got things started for the Bears just 12:47 into the game when she scored an unassisted goal to give Brown its first lead of the season.
Hyland then increased the Bears' lead to 2-0 before the end of the first half, scoring on one of Brown's three first-half penalty corners. Senior Andrea Posa (Weston, MA) played the ball in to Sara Eaton (Arlington, VA), who passed to Hyland. Hyland fired a shot on net that eluded Charlotte Goins for the 2-0 lead.
Brown dominated the first half, outshooting the Bulldogs, 8-3, while both teams earned three penalty corners. Yale came out of the break on a mission and fired 10 shots to Brown's two. However, Zysk converted a pass from senior Sandhya Dhir (Agoura Hills, CA) into the Bears' third goal at 58:21 to put the game away. After scoring her first career goal on October 24th against Holy Cross, Zysk scored four goals in as many games to end the season.
Senior Kristen Hodavance (Emmaus, PA) picked up the shutout with six saves, including five in the second half.
