Providence, RI - Brown senior Andrea Posa (Weston, MA) scored her team-leading fourth goal to tie the game, but Penn's three unanswered goals in the second half were the difference, as the Brown field hockey team (0-15, 0-6 Ivy) fell to the Quakers (8-8, 4-2 Ivy), by a 4-1 count on Saturday afternoon. The game was the team's final home contest for the Bears this year, as seniors Posa, Katie Auriemma (Medford, NJ), Sandhya Dhir (Agoura Hills, CA), Kristen Hodavance (Emmaus, PA), and Ani Kazarian (Providence, RI) were honored in a special ceremony.
The Bears came out with intensity, out-shooting their opponents 11-7 in the first half, but the Quakers struck first, as Penn junior Rachel Eng scored an unassisted goal with 8:10 remaining. However, Posa knotted things back up less than three minutes later, scoring off a penalty corner taken by junior Victoria Sacco (Madison, NJ).
The score remained tied heading into halftime, but two goals by senior Nicole Black and another by senior Jamie Calahan, all assisted by junior Margaretha Ehret, for the final 4-1 margin.
Hodavance got the start in net in her final home game, stopping five shots.
On Tuesday, the Bears will travel across town to take on Providence at 4 p.m., before hitting the road next weekend for their final game of the 2007 season, at Yale at noon.
