PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown field hockey team (6-7, 2-3) won its second game in a row on Saturday afternoon, defeating Cornell (9-6, 3-2) by a 2-1 score in the pouring rain on Warner Roof.

After nearly an entire half of scoreless action, junior leading scorer Laurel Pierpont (Jacksonville, FL) got Brown on the board with an unassisted tally 32 minutes into the contest.

Junior Meaghan Harwood (Hoosick Falls, NY) added Brown's second goal with 29:11 remaining in the game as she and Pierpont each notched their second goals in as many games.

The Bears appeared to be on their way to their second shutout of the season, but Cornell was awarded three penalty corners in a row in the last five minutes of play. Sophomore goalie Katie Noe (Simsbury, CT) stopped four consecutive shots, before allowing the Big Red's lone goal of the game, scored by junior Kimmy Gardner, with 3:13 left in the contest.

Noe finished with 14 saves in net for the Bears, while Kaitlin Tierney made seven for Cornell. Brown continues action on Wednesday, October 30, when the Bears travel to Holy Cross for a 4:00 p.m. game.
