Field Hockey Falls to Cross-Town Rival Providence, 4-1

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Providence Friars (11-5) tallied three unanswered goals in the second half en route to a 4-1 victory over host Brown (7-6) in a field hockey game played on Brown's Warner Roof on Wednesday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half and four shots each by both Brown and Providence, the Friars scored the first goal of the game just 7:16 into the second half. Senior Maggie Hoffmann took Brown freshman goalie Kathryn Noe (Simsbury, CT) one-on-one and slipped the ball into the back of the net.

With 11:30 remaining in the game junior Jennifer Chin tallier her first of two goals with her second coming 2:41 later, and giving the Friars a 3-0 lead.

Sophomore Meaghan Harwood (Hoosick Falls, NY) found senior Lauren LaRochelle (Augusta, ME) in front of the net and LaRochelle fired the ball past sophomore Meaghan Moran to get Brown on the board with 51 seconds left, and the Friars added an unassisted goal 22 seconds later for the final score.

Noe made seven saves in net for the Bears, who contine action on Saturday, October 27 when they host Penn in a 12:00 noon contest. Prior to the game, Brown will honor the six seniors on the team.
