Brown Field Hockey Buries Cross Town Rival Providence College, 4-0

Providence, RI - On Wednesday, October 22, 2003, Brown Field Hockey (8-5) defeated cross-town rival Providence College (8-9) in a 4-0 victory. Senior Lizzie Buza (Houston, TX) and senior Molly Carleton (Shaker Heights, OH) both notched two goals apiece for the Bears.

Buza broke onto the scoreboard first with 18:27 left in the first half. She picked up the ball near the stroke mark and drove it home for an unassisted goal. The Friars were unable to retaliate despite their eight shots in the first half.

The Bears dominated the second half, although they didn't score until halfway through the period. Carleton picked up the second goal, which was unassisted, for the Bears with 15:49 on the clock. At 9:28 Buza got back on board scoring off a corner with assists from junior Julia Kelderman (Chevy chase, MD) and senior Meaghan Harwood (Hoosick Falls, NY). The final goal came with two minutes left in the game when Carleton hit a textbook chip shot on the left side. The goal was assisted by Buza. Junior Katie Noe (Simsbury, CT) made five saves in her shut out.

The Bears continue action on Sunday, October 26, at Cornell at 12:00 noon.
