Cornell Edges Bears, 2-1, on Last-Minute Goal

ITHACA, NY - Cornell's Abbi Horn scored the game-winning goal with 46 seconds remaining to lift the Big Red to a 2-1 victory over the Brown field hockey team (0-13, 0-5) on Sunday afternoon at Schoellkopf Field.
After a scoreless first half that saw Cornell out shoot Brown, 5-2, the Big Red took a 1-0 leads when Belen Martinez converted a penalty corner for a goal just 1:24 into the second half.
Brown tied the game at 1-1 12:21 later when senior Andrea Posa (Weston, MA) scored off a cross from sophomore Jackie Connard (Pipersville, PA) at 48:45 before Horn netted the game-winner 21 minutes later.
Freshman Lauren Kessler (Burtonsville, MD) recorded five saves in net. The Bears return to action on Wednesday afternoon, October 24th, when they host Holy Cross at 4:00 p.m.
