Providence, RI - In a soggy Ivy League match-up, the field hockey team (5-6, 2-2) fell to Princeton, 3-0 on Warner Roof this afternoon. The Tigers pressured the Brown defense all game out shooting the Bears 23-14.
Princeton was able to convert two first half penalty corners, giving them a 2-0 lead going into halftime. The Tigers struck early, netting their first goal just over three minutes into the game. Sophomore Kristen Hodavance (Emmaus, PA) anchored the Bear defense and was tested for most of the 70:00 minutes, finishing the game with 8 saves. Princeton struck again, eight minutes later, when Paige Schmidt took a pass from Nicole Ng on a penalty corner and put it past Hodavance for the two goal lead.
The Bears pressured the Tiger defense in the second half, but was unable to put anything past Allison Nemeth, leaving Brown scoreless.
Brown will return to action on Wednesday, October 19, when they travel across town to take on Providence College at 4:00 PM.
