HAMDEN, CT - The Brown field hockey team (5-4, 2-1) scored twice in a span of four minutes en route to a 2-1 victory over Columbia (4-6, 0-3) in a neutral site game played at Quinnipiac University. The win is Brown's second straight as the Bears climb over the .500 mark for the first time since opening the season with a 1-0 victory over Vermont.

After a scoreless first half during which each team tallied six shots, the Lions took a 1-0 lead when Ramie Merrill fired the ball past sophomore Kristen Hodavance (Emmaus, PA) at 43:49.

Less than four minutes later, at 47:02, the Bears tied the contest at 1-1 when junior Tracy Dungo (North Caldwell, NJ) flicked the ball to the left side of the Columbia goalie, off a pass from freshman Sara Eaton (Arlington, VA).

Just over four minutes later, at 51:05, Eaton scored what would prove to be the game-winner, knocking the ball in after a scramble in front of the net on a Brown penalty corner. Senior Brooke Townsend (Stanford, CT) earned an assist on the goal.

The two teams finished the game nearly even in shots taken with Brown holding an 18-16 advantage, but the Bears dominated the penalty corner battle, earning 11, including nine in the second half, to Columbia's four.

Hodavance recoded eight saves in net for Brown, which continues action on Wednesday, October 12, in a 7:00 p.m. contest at Boston College.
