CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Harvard field hockey team (5-2, 2-0) outshot Brown, 17-4, and held a 7-1 advantage in penalty corners and came away with a 4-1 win over the Bears (0-7, 0-2) on Saturday afternoon.
Devon Shapiro got Harvard on the board in the 12th minute of play as the Crimson scored on the very first shot of the game. However, senior Andrea Posa (Weston, MA), who was back in the lineup after missing four games with an injury, tied the game at 1-1 five minutes later when she scored from the top of the circle.
But, after another five minutes, Harvard scored what would prove to be the game-winner and Tami Jafar gave the Crimson a 3-1 lead at half-time, scoring her first of two goals with six minutes left in the first half. Jafar scored the final goal of the game just 6:48 into the second half for the 4-1 final.
The Bears return to action on Wednesday night, September 26th, when they travel to Amherst to face UMass at 7:00 p.m.
