Sept. 17, 2008

Box Score

BOSTON, MA - Northeastern (5-2) scored on its first three shots on goal to take a 3-0 lead less than 13 minutes into the game and never looked back, cruising to a 7-1 victory over the Brown field hockey team (1-3) on Wednesday afternoon.

The Huskies utilized a 24-5 advantage in shots and a 12-2 advantage in penalty corners en route to the win.

After Northeastern had taken the 3-0 lead on Pam Aldridge's first of two goals at 12:22, the Bears got on the board six minutes later as senior Sara Eaton (Arlington, VA) found the back of the net off an assist from sophomore Katie Hyland (Riegelsville, PA).

However, that was as close as the Bears would get, as the Huskies connected for four goals in the second half, during which Brown was outshot, 12-1, to post the victory.

Sophomore Lauren Kessler (Burtonsville, MD) started in net, allowing three goals, before giving way to freshman Caroline Washburn (Pittsburgh, PA), who made her collegiate debut, stopping six shots.

After four straight road games to open the season, the Bears return home this weekend to host Columbia in their 2008 Ivy opener on Saturday, September 20th at 12:00 noon. The video of the game will be streamed live on Brownbears.com.
