Field Hockey Announces 2012 Team Award Recipients

PROVIDENCE, RI – The Brown field hockey team held its annual season-ending banquet on Saturday, April 13th at the Faculty Club on the Brown campus. Six different individuals were honored with team awards, while members of both the Class of 2013 and 2016 received their letter sweaters. Senior tri-captain Kelley Harrison (Houston, TX) was also recognized for her four years of dedication to the field hockey program.

The Outstanding Offensive Player Award is presented to the player that has produced the most goals, assists, and scoring opportunities during the season. 2012 Award Recipient: Meghan O'Donnell '15 (Winchester, MA)

The Laura Kavazanjian '06 Outstanding Defensive Player Award is presented to the player that time after time comes up with big stops on defense and gets the team out of tough situations. 2012 Award Recipient: Kelsey Grossman '14 (Shavertown, PA).

The Most Outstanding Rookie Award is presented to a first-year player who had the most impact on the field during their rookie season. 2012 Award Recipient: Alexis Miller '16 (Caldwell, NJ).

The John L. Danforth '52 Award (unsung hero) is presented to the player who makes a substantial contribution on and off the field, but goes somewhat unrecognized. 2012 Award Recipient: Shannon McSweeney '15 (Boxborough, MA).

The Tricia E. Colligan '96 Award (Pembroke Award for Sportsmanship) is presented to the player who shows fairness, courtesy to teammates and opponents, and is gracious in both winning and losing. 2012 Award Recipient: Maggie Brady '14 (Tulsa, OK).

The Coaches Award is presented to the player who demonstrates leadership on and off the field, is able to stand in as a "coach", and relays information from the coaching staff to the team. 2012 Award Recipient: Avery Burns '14 (Millersville, MD).
