Field Hockey Announces 2010 Team Award Recipients

The Brown field hockey team held its annual season-ending banquet, and eight different individuals were honored with team awards. Senior captain Katie Hyland (Riegelsville, PA) earned the Most Valuable Player Award, while classmates and fellow captains Tacy Zysk (Walpole, MA) and Cassie Puhalla (Forty Fort, PA) also earned awards.

The Most Valuable Player Award is presented annually to the player that is looked upon both on and off the field, is able to get the team out of tough situations, and who the coaches are able to depend upon when not around. 2010 Award Recipient: Katie Hyland (Riegelsville, PA). 

The Outstanding Offensive Player Award is presented to the player that has produced the most goals, assists, and scoring opportunities during the season. 2010 Award Recipient: Leslie Springmeyer (New Vernon, NJ)

The Outstanding Defensive Player Award is presented to the player that time after time comes up with big stops on defense and gets the team out of tough situations. 2010 Award Recipient: Laura Iacovetti (Blue Bell, PA).

The Most Outstanding Rookie Award is presented to a first-year player who had the most impact on the field during their rookie season. 2010 Award Recipient: Torie Stearns (Rye, NY).

The John L. Danforth '52 Award (unsung hero) is presented to the player who makes a substantial contribution on and off the field, but goes somewhat unrecognized. 2010 Award Recipient: Kelley Harrison (Houston, TX).

The Tricia E. Colligan '96 Award (Pembroke Award for Sportsmanship) is presented to the player who shows fairness, courtesy to teammates and opponents, and is gracious in both winning and losing. 2010 Award Recipients: Bridget McNamara (Bethesda, MD) and Cassie Puhalla (Forty Fort, PA).

The Coaches Award is presented to the player who demonstrates leadership on and off the field, is able to stand in as a "coach", and relays information from the coaching staff to the team. 2010 Award Recipient: Tacy Zysk (Walpole, MA). 

The Biggest Believer Award is presented to the player who never stops believing in themselves, the team, and in the Brown Field Hockey Program. They are always thinking the best possible outcome for the team. 2010 Award Recipient: Tacy Zysk (Walpole, MA).
