PROVIDENCE, RI – Brown junior Leslie Springmeyer (New Vernon, NJ) has been named Ivy League co-Player of the Week, after helping to lead the Bears to a 2-0 week with wins over Holy Cross (4-1) and Penn (3-2). It marked the first time since September 2009 that the Bears won back-to-back games and also gives Brown two Ivy wins.
On Tuesday against Holy Cross, Springmeyer led Brown with 5 points, scoring two goals just 6:44 apart to help the Bears open up a 3-0 lead. Her first goal would prove to be the game-winner, as Holy Cross would get on the board following Springmeyer's second tally. She helped to secure the win with an assist on classmat Abigail Taft's (Shaker Heights, OH) second goal of the game, scored 13 minutes after the Crusader tally and with 10 minutes left to play. On Sunday against Penn, Springmeyer scored her 10th goal of the season, giving Brown a 2-0 lead in the 54th minute of play.
With her seven-point week, Springmeyer continues her climb among Brown's all-time scoring leaders. She moved from 4th to 2nd for career goals with 28, from 5th to 4th for career assists with 18, and from 4th to 2nd for career points with 74.
