PRINCETON, NJ - The Brown field hockey team (2-10, 1-3) suffered a 7-1 loss to #4 Princeton (10-2, 4-0) on Saturday afternoon at Class of '52 Stadium. Freshman Charlotte Small (Summit, NJ) scored her first career goal on the Bears' only shot of the game, while junior Lauren Kessler (Burtonsville, MD) stopped 13 shots in net for Brown.
The Tigers got off to a fast start, scoring just 4:22 into the game, before building their lead to 2-0 at the 13:53 mark. Another goal at 16:04 made it 3-0 and then three straight goals in a span of 4:29 increased Princeton's lead to 6-0.
Small got Brown on the board 1:39 before halftime, converting a pass from junior Leslie Springmeyer (New Vernon, NJ) and Princeton added its 7th goal 5:33 into the second half to account for the 7-1 final.
Kessler made seven of her 13 saves in the second half to help shut the Tigers down in the final 29 minutes, while senior Katie Hyland (Riegelsville, PA) recorded a defensive save in the second half.
Brown continues action on Wednesday afternoon, October 20th,
when it hosts cross-town rival, Providence College, in a 4:00 p.m.
