Brown University women's crew competed at the Women's Henley Regatta, June 20-22 with the open eight and club eight winning gold medals, and the varsity eight, which raced in the open eights, advancing to the Royal Henley Regatta, which runs from July 4-6.
On the way to gold, Brown's varsity eight defeated the University of London (by more than four lengths), the University of Texas (by 16 seconds). The victory over Texas, the varsity eight earned an automatic berth in the Remenem Cup race for women at the Royal Henley Regatta, starting on July 1.
The Bears, who finished second at the recent NCAA Championships, could face Radcliffe for their first race on July 4. Several National Teams, including Australia, Great Britain, Germany, Canada, and Ireland, will also race in the Remenem Cup, in which every race is a one-on-one affair, with the loser being eliminated.
