Murphy, Women's Rowers Earn Post-Season Honors

PROVIDENCE, RI - The 2002 NCAA Division I National Champion Brown women's crew garnered several post-season honors as announced by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) on June 10.
Head coach John Murphy, who guided the Bears to their third NCAA title in the last four years this season, was named the 2002 Regional Coach of the Year in New England. Murphy was also recognized as the New England Region Coach of the Year in 2000. The Division I National Coach of the Year will be announced at a later date.
Three members of Brown's varsity eight boat, which finished second at NCAAs on the Eagle Creek River in Indianapolis, IN on May 31-June 2, were named CRCA New England Region First-Team selections.
Seniors Rosie Branson-Gill (Medford, MA), Jessica Lanning (Atlanta, GA), and Lucy Lueders-Booth (Cambridge, MA) all claimed spots on the twelve-member New England Region First-Team. All-America honors will be announced at a later date.
Brown also won NCAA titles in 1999 and 2000. In the six years of the NCAA women's rowing championships the only two teams to win titles have been Brown and Washington with three apiece.
